How to prevent and control diabetes.

Diabetes is described as a group of metabolic diseases which the person has high blood glucose (blood sugar) either because insulin production is inadequate or the body cell's do not respond properly to the insulin or both. It is a lifestyle disorder, which essentially means that it arises out of the way we live and choices we make with nutrition balance, exercise, our stress coping capacity and other habits.It can be scary to hear about, but the good thing is that diabetes is most responsive to improvement if you make small changes in your lifestyle.To make sure your blood sugar levels don't control your entire life, there are several practical tips for how to prevent and control diabetes and are given as follows.

How to prevent and control diabetes:



  • Say no to sugar

Blood sugar is the most affected by the kinds of food we eat. The most obvious cause is eating foods that cause your own blood sugar levels to shoot up. If you consume food that takes time to convert to sugar, then the body is better able to maintain outs insulin levels. The foods which convert to sugar rapidly in the body include all refined foods-flours like rice flour, maida, sooji, refined sugar, sweetened fruit juices, bread, potatoes, bakery foods.


  • Say yes to fibre

The best bets are the foods in their original form. These include dalia, whole grains, dals that have their skin still on, all types of fibrous grains like jowar and bajra. Papaya and sweet lime are the safest to eat. Avoid the too sweet fruits like banana, cheeku, and grapes.
All vegetables apart from potatoes and arbi are good to eat for a diabetic. Green leafy vegetables are particularly good among nuts flaxseeds are good source of omega acids, while almonds, walnuts, sunflower and pumpkin seeds are also healthy.as diabetic needs chromium which is good for insulin production so nuts and seeds are a good source.


  • Say no to stress

diabetic, those who are  not overweight can control their condition if they improve their stress coping abilities. Listening to mantras, bhajans or clamming sounds lowers the heart rate and cools you down and also improves the nervous system ability to manage stress. Yoga seems to be the most effective stress buster. Pranayama, anulom, vilom that stimulate the manipur chakra are the most beneficial for stress level reduction.


  • Say yes to special foods

Choose aloe Vera, which can be taken as 20ml diluted with water daily. Amla juicer one can either eat one alma a day or one teaspoon of alma juice mixed with water in the morning. Cinnamon bark is good too. Crush a cinnamon stick and boil in water till the water changes color. Consume two cups daily. Drink a ginger infusion twice a day turn to triphala. Half a teaspoon of crushed jamun seed powder consumed daily with water works wonders too. The biter flavor of karela many not be o everyone’s taste, but the fresh juice of the raw fruit goes a long away to balance the sugar levels.
